In 2019, the Chicago-based Neurocritical Care Society launched Curing Coma®
Curing Coma® is the first global public health initiative to address coma internationally to develop and implement a common coma treatment strategy and improve the human quality of life for patients with impaired consciousness.
The aim of the campaign is the international cooperation of teams of doctors, researchers and carers to participate in current and future scientific efforts dedicated to the treatment of disorders of consciousness.
As part of the campaign, on the initiative of the Society of Neurocrical Care Chicago, we celebrate the annual World Coma Day on March 22.
World Coma Day is an all-day, global online event featuring stories of unusual awakenings, scientific lectures by medical experts, educational sessions for patients and their families, and short films from around the world. The entire event is in English.
World Coma Day Goals are
- Raising awareness of coma as a treatable and recoverable clinical entity.
- Encourage all stakeholders to get involved in the Curing Coma® program. and to meet us on World Coma Day!!!
